The United Nations Resolution on Addressing the Challenges of Persons Living with a Rare Disease and their Families was adopted on 16 December 2021, following a three-year campaign, led by the NGO Committee for Rare Diseases, Rare Diseases International and EURORDIS-Rare Diseases Europe, to recognise the challenges facing the global rare disease community and protect and promote their human rights at a global level.
To ensure the adoption of the UN General Assembly Resolution, rare disease patient organisations around the world have advocated for change at the local, national and international levels.
